Why you should come here:

Sprawling across 3,000 square feet, The Coffee Academics has plenty of nooks and corners where you can have a quiet cuppa, as well as seven different stations for various coffee and tea related activities. The stations include the Espresso Bar, Tea Academics Bar, Culinary Counter, Custom Blend Concierge, Roasting Corner where they roast their own beans, Cupping Corner for classes and events, and the Hand Brew Bar with tatami mats where you can try single origin coffees pulled by hand.

 

What we love:

We love the sheer variety of coffee they have on offer and the fact that they give a description of each blend explaining where the beans come from, how they were grown, flavour notes and their suggested brewing methods. We really enjoyed the Manuka Latte and could have had two more if we weren’t so worried about vibrating right out of there.

 

The food is not bad either, although a tad pricey. There are some good brunch options like the Eggs Benny with 36-month aged Cinco Jotas Jamon Bellota, the Scrambled Eggs with Crayfish, and the Academics Pancake Tower with mixed berries, berry sorbet and whipped cream. For lunch and dinner they also have offerings like the Crab & Avocado Salad, Miso Cod Risotto, and the Mac & Cheese topped with kale chips.

Want to learn more about coffee beans and the barista lifestyle? Like the name suggests, The Coffee Academics is also all about educating people in all things caffeine, so they offer regular classes like their Barista Basics and Latte Art at their Cupping Corner station.
