Curious Palette

If you’re familiar with Stranger’s Reunion, which serves absolutely amazing coffee, then you may or may not be aware that Curious Palette is their sister cafe on Prinsep Street. Here you’ll find the same aromatic coffee roasted in house and brewed in your choice of syphon, aeropress or drip, as well as divine all-day breakfast dishes like their famous Berry Ricotta Hotcakes and hearty dinner fare like pastas and grilled meats.

Why you should come here:

Owner Ryan Kieran Tan is a three-time Singapore National Barista Champion and World Siphonist Champion, so it’s safe to say he knows a thing or two about coffee. Together with his team he sources out the best beans from around the world and tests out different roasts and blends to bring us some seriously good cups of java. The food is also a treat with amped up cafe fare like perfectly poached eggs, buttery waffles, and rich slices of cake.

What we love:

Once you try the Berry Ricotta Hotcakes, you’ll see why this has become their famous signature dish. The hotcakes are slightly crispy on the edges and fluffy in the middle, and they come loaded with fresh strawberries and blueberries, crunchy pumpkin and sunflower seeds, and a big mound of creamy vanilla bean ice cream. This is like breakfast and dessert all wrapped up in one. If savoury is more your style, try the Soft Shell Crab Burger that comes with a lightly breaded soft shell crab atop wasabi slaw, avocado and green shoots in a soft white seed bun.

UJ Tidbit:

If you really want to get to know your coffee, try one of their hand drip versions that come sans milk or sugar and with an info card about the origin of the beans and tasting notes. Without anything to distract from the taste, you should really be able to taste all the nuances in each pour.

Damage:

$25++ to $35++ for a coffee and a meal.
